Celebrity Bartender Bash, Friday Happy Hour and Tiki Thursdays
Local celebrities from artists to musicians will trade their day jobs for bartending duties as La Thai Uptown hosts a once-a-month Celebrity Bartender Bash. Guest bartenders will create a signature cocktail to serve up to guests. In addition, complimentary hors d'ouevres will be offered and special drink prices. The bash will kick off on Thursday, April 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will feature Ann and Paul Tuennerman, aka Mr. and Mrs. Cocktail. As founder and executive director of Tales of the Cocktail, Ann provides the vision for each event and has turned a handful of events attended by 200 people into the nation's premier cocktail festival, bringing together the world's foremost experts on everything alcohol for a week-long libation celebration. Ann's love of cocktails, cuisine, history and New Orleans also prompted her to found both The New Orleans Original Cocktail Tour and the New Orleans Culinary & Cultural Preservation Society. Paul is the Executive Director of the New Orleans Culinary & Cultural Preservation Society, a non-profit organization that seeks to preserve the rich history and culinary heritage of the bars and restaurants of New Orleans through education and celebration. Paul is also a contributing writer for Nightclub & Bar Magazine and Food & Beverage Magazine. Together they host "The Straight Pour", a weekly radio show on WIST-AM 690. In addition, owner Diana Chauvin invites guests to throw on a sarong or brightly colored Hawaiian shirt, grab a lei and head to La Thai Uptown for Tiki Thursdays from 5-7pm every Thursday starting in April. Located at 4938 Prytania Street, the Uptown restaurant and bar from the owners of Bangkok Cuisine, will be serving up 2 for 1 classic Tiki-style cocktails and complimentary Tiki-inspired hors d'oeuvres every Thursday evening. Enjoy your favorite fruit-based libations including Blue Hawaiian, Mai Tai, Scorpion, Fog Cutter and Zombie. And, end your week on a high note with La Thai's "Happy Ending Fridays" every Friday from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy $3 call drinks and $2 Abita beer as you listen to the cool sounds of Greg Bosse on guitar. La Thai Uptown is open for lunch Tuesday thru Saturday from 11am until 3pm and on Sunday from noon until 3pm. Dinner hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 5pm until 10pm and on Sunday from 5pm until 9pm. The restaurant is closed on Monday. Visit www.lathaiuptown.com. |
