Starting this summer, AeroMexico will begin offering direct flights from New Orleans to Mexico City, the first direct international flights offered from the city since Hurricane Katrina hit more than three years ago.
Flights are scheduled to be offered six days weekly beginning July 6. Rather than a flight of seven to 10 hours to Mexico, including travel to Houston, Atlanta, Dallas or Miami, travelers will now be able to go from New Orleans to Mexico City in less than two hours. After a stop in Mexico City, travelers will be able to take a connecting flight to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The return of international flights out of New Orleans to Mexico and Honduras is a great step towards reconnecting our cities culturally and economically," Burgos said. "Local Hispanic residents will once again enjoy the efficiency of direct flights to Mexico and Honduras." |
