Grow Mo’ Betta
* SUSTAINABLE GROWING WORKSHOPS *
BY N.O. FOOD & FARM NETWORK*

New Orleans Food & Farm Network, www.noffn.org, is sponsoring *Grow Mo’
Betta*, a series of sustainable agriculture trainings as part of its
Farm-Yard Project dedicated to “growing growers” in urban settings to
increase local production and availability of fresh and affordable food.

The Farm-Yard Trainings teach the urban gardener or farmer sustainable
garden practices and are created with a variety of gardening and farming
types and experience levels in mind. Novices as well as seasoned growers are
all welcome! *Pre-registration is required.*

*CHICKENS IN THE CITY GARDEN: HOW TO RAISE A BACKYARD FLOCK*
Chickens can be an incredible way of contributing to creating a healthy,
sustainable growing space. As chickens peck around for food they are also
controlling bugs and weeds. The soiled straw in the chicken coop and manure,
once composted, offers one of the greatest sources of nutrients for your
soil. And we know --- healthy soil means stunningly healthier plants!

*Joseph Brock*, creator and organizer of the Mid-City Community Garden and
enthusiastic “city-farmer” will share with you how to raise chickens in your
city garden. You will learn the number, space requirements and municipal
regulations for raising them as well as how to house your chickens for
optimal health while complementing your urban growing space.

*Free vegetable, flower and herb seeds will be available. *

Two sessions will be held *Saturday, April 18th from 10:00-11:30 a. m., and
12:30-2:00 p. m.* at New Orleans Food & Farm Network Growing Center at 4840
Banks St., corner S. Anthony, across from the cemeteries. *Session fee is
$5.*

Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by Thursday, April 16th,
at pamela@noffn.org or by calling 864-2009.
