Presents 10th Anniversary Concert
At Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro


Brazilian musician, Riccardo Crespo, will present a special anniversary concert at the premiere jazz club of New Orleans, Snug Harbor. On Wednesday April 15, Crespo will perform original compositions from his last three CD’s including a preview of new material from his next album scheduled for release in 2010. The talented singer, songwriter and guitarist will be featured along with his band, Sol Brasil. The ensemble includes pianist Jesse Reeks, violinist Lulu Gonzalez, saxophonist Rex Gregory, bassist Nathan Lamberstson and Gabriel Velascos on drums and percussion.

Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Riccardo came to New Orleans in 1999 for the Jazz and Heritage Festival and fell in love with the Crescent City and her people. Singing in Portuguese, Riccardo began his musical career in New Orleans by playing on the streets of the French Quarter, namely at the Pirates Alley Café. His fan base quickly grew and so did performance opportunities for the talented artist. For the past decade, Riccardo Crespo’s musical journey in the Big Easy has included performances at several Jazz and Heritage Festivals, virtually all French Quarter Festivals in the past decade, and regular performances at some of the finest jazz venues in the city. Two of his last three CD’s were recorded and released in the Crescent City, including his very loving tribute to his adopted city, Milonga of New Orleans, which premiered for the 2008 Jazz Fest.

“I’ve always enjoyed my many performance opportunities at Snug Harbor”, says Crespo. “Every one of them is memorable for me, but the April 15th concert will be extra special because I will retrace my musical history in Nola through my music. My roots in Brazil have been transported to the fertile New Orleans soil that has shaped and enriched my life as a professional musician. My home and my life are here now”.
