Kick off the second weekend of Jazzfest with a bang on Thursday, April 30th with Cyril Neville's album release party at Tipitina's French Quarter!

The Grammy winning voice of the Neville Brothers and Meters and considered by many the last great Blues singer standing, Cyril Neville is a passionate performer with a voice that doesn't just sing, it preaches. New Orleans' Offbeat magazine refers to Cyril Neville as "a prophet, keeper of the flame, poet, archivist, musical alchemist, community leader, historian and very much an artist to amaze, educate and entertain." In addition to his work with the Neville Brothers, Cyril Neville has formed other bands over the years, including the Endangered Species Band in 1983 and the Uptown Allstars Band, while also founding the New Orleans Musicians Organized (NOMO), an organization whose mission is to assist musicians with career counseling. Cyril Neville's music celebrates the best of New Orleans' musical culture and ranks him among the Crescent City's greatest and most enduring musical ambassadors. His new album, BRAND NEW BLUES, will be released on April 7th on MC Records. The album features Art and Ivan Neville, Tab Benoit, Waylon Thibodeaux, and Jumpin Johnny Sansone on harmonica.

Joining Cyril Neville on stage for his album release party will be an all-star cast! Kicking off the celebration will be the Mardi Gras Indian funk band The Wild Magnolias featuring the vocal talents of Big Chief Bo Dollis and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux! Following these legends will be Cajun blues icon Tab Benoit and Best Instrumentalist nominee for the 2009 Blues Music Award Jumpin' Johnny Sansone.

Don't miss Cyril Neville's album release bash with at Tipitina's French Quarter!

And remember, this year the Backbeat Jazzfest Series will be offering music lovers and the musicians they love smoke-free environments at all shows.

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.backbeatpresents.com or www.ticketweb.com.
