Summary


The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents a series of demonstrations, performances and clinics for all high school, college and professional percussionists as well as all the wannabes of the New Orleans area on Saturday, April 4 beginning at 10 a.m. in Armstrong Park. Percussion and drum accessories will be available for purchase, and a food tent will offer affordable lunch dishes for those wishing to picnic in the Park. Unless otherwise noted, all activities are free and open to the public.


10 a.m. - Drum Circle, led by Curtis Pierre of Casa Samba, in Congo Square
11 a.m. - Samba instrument workshop led by Curtis Pierre, adjacent to the Theater
Noon - Casa Samba performance/demonstration, adjacent to Theater
12:30 p.m. - Brother Martin High School demonstration, inside Theatre
1 p.m. - Master's Touch Drum Line performance, adjacent to Theater
1:30 p.m. - Southeastern Louisiana University Percussion demonstration, inside Theater
2:00 p.m. - Percussion Clinic by Nena Lorenz, LPO Principal Percussion and Dave Salay, LPO Percussionist, inside Theater
2:00 p.m. - Percussion Clinic by Marty Hurley, Band Director, Brother Martin High School, adjacent to Theater
3:00 p.m. - Performance/demonstration by Stevie Wonder band members, Fausto Cuevas (percussion) and Stanley Randolph (drums) inside Theater. $10 per person donation at entrance.
4:00 p.m.- U.S. Marine Band Drum Line performance, adjacent to Theater
