Memoirs of the Sistahood - Chapter 1
Saturday, April 4, 2009 8:00pm - 9:30pm Location: Contemporary Arts Center Street: 900 Camp St. 504.528.3805 info@cacno.org _Memoirs of the Sistahood ? Chapter One_ is a unique multimedia performance featuring the works of sisters Babette Beaullieu, a New Orleans-based sculptor, and Becky Beaullieu Valls, a performer/choreographer in Houston. _Memoirs_ focuses on the female archetypes of 1950s Louisiana and the six Beaullieu sisters (Beth, Becky, Babette, Bonnie, Bitsy, and Barbara), while building upon themes of women, family, home and the sisters? Catholic upbringing in South Louisiana. Using dance, original music, film and sculptures constructed from windows, doors and other found objects salvaged from New Orleans streets after Hurricane Katrina, _Memoirs_ is an intriguing work of visual storytelling. |
