The Open Ears series of concerts

Tuesday March 31st at the Blue Nile...The Open Ears series of concerts
presents Michael Skinkus and Moyuba

Michael Skinkus founded Moyuba in 2002 as a means to create modern Jazz
compositions based upon the Yoruba sacred songs and bata rhythms that form
the ceremonial music of Santerķa or Regla de Ocha in Cuba. The band uses
the sacred songs and rhythms as a base for it's original compositions that
are in fact suites of songs dedicated to individual orichas such as Elegua,
Ogun, and Ochosi. Moyuba won the Big Easy award for 2007 as the best World
Music band. The band's name, Moyuba, is a word in Yoruba which means "to pay
homage." That is the goal of the original ompositions by Moyuba.
