SPEAKER: Dr. Charles C. Mary, III MD

TOPIC: Hypothyroidism: "Why won't my doctor listen to me?" Dr. Mary will give an intimate talk on thyroid dysfunction and why the medical community won't address the concerns of their patients. A question and answer session will follow.

At our usual meeting time, the last Monday night of the month we will be fortunate to once again have as our speaker Dr. Charles C. Mary, III. At the Mary Clinic, they believe in a holistic philosophy. Patients with all types of cancer such as breast, lung, colon, prostate, pancreatic, kidney, and leukemia, even metastatic can be helped. Dr. Sandra Bevacqua, gave a wonderful presentation at our February 25th meeting. We were fortunate indeed to have such an informed and interesting person as our speaker. We had a tremendous turn out for it being the day after Mardi Gras.

Dr. Bevacqua, a PHD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, has worked as a research scientist at both the university and government levels. Her work includes numerous publications for the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Temple University Center for Thrombotic Disorders, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. In recent years, she has focused on diet and nutrition, lecturing and leading teleconferences with medical professionals throughout the America, Canada, Europe and Japan to help educate them in the field of nutrition.

For the last ten years Dr. Bevacqua has brought her knowledge to the community through Healthy Weighs, an innovative series of free local seminars focusing on practical and natural ways of achieving optimal health. These seminars are available nationally and internationally via teleconference or webcast. (Contact WISH for details.) With her background in the fields of genetic engineering and human tumor biology, Dr. Bevacqua made the complex interactions between our bodies and the foods we eat understandable and memorable.

Thank all of you for your participation in our monthly wellness meetings. The fellowship we share during our potluck time has become an enjoyable part of our monthly get together, and we hope you have enjoyed our various speakers. We apologize for any confusion you might have because of Dr. Roy Solomon's Holistic Education Meetings in Metairie. This will not affect the continuation of our House of Broel Wellness Center's monthly meetings at 2220 St. Charles Ave. usually held the last Monday of the month. Because of all the activities surrounding Mardi Gras, we did not have a January meeting and our meeting in February was the day after Mardi Gras day, February 25.
