New Orleans, LA - The Arts Market of New Orleans has colorful clothing, hats, jewelry, and other accessories for all your "festing" needs! Find unique, wearable crafts made by over 100 local artisans for stylish fun this festival season. The Arts Market is presented free to the public by the Arts Council of New Orleans, on Saturday, March 28th in lovely Palmer Park (the corner of Claiborne and Carrollton Avenues), from 10 am to 4 pm. Milliner Tracy Thomson is happy to present a new line of Kabuki Straw Sun Hats for Festival season. These adjustable hats pack flat- making them perfect for travel. Color combinations Thompson is introducing this season are Gulf Coast (a combination of sea, sky and sand), Oak Tree and Spanish Moss, Indigo, Boiled Shrimp and Hot Sauce. Known for her popular and original Water Meter Caps, Berets and Bags, Thompson's new designs incorporate the names of our favorite neighborhoods: Mid City, Gentilly, Lakeview, Bywater, Marigny, Desire, and Tremé. In the Kids Tent, Papillion's Cajun & Zydeco Music Show at 10:30 am, Make a Maraca craft project after the show for the rest of the day! Live performances in the Music Tent include The Washboard Chaz Trio at 1:00 pm, followed by the world beats of Luther Gray and Bamboula 2000 at 2:30 pm. Tie-Dye Artists Lauren and Russell Autin do all their work by hand- the old fashioned way, using time tested techniques, but with a modern flare. They have worked together in the New Orleans area for more than 20 years. Lauren stated, "It is great having the Arts Market in Palmer Park .We couldn't think of a better place to show and sell our work!" Dress for the hot festival season in cool fashions for the entire family.
