Jean Bragg Gallery presents Baton Rouge plein-air artist Charles G. Smith. His show entitled "Close to Home" features the landscapes of lowland Louisiana: live oaks, cypress stands, agrarian fields and sunset marshes.His handling of light and attention to detail gives these oil paintings "an old master" glow. The show runs the month of May, 2012; and the artist reception is on Art Walk Night, May 5, 6-9pm.

On Wednesday, September 15th, join Ms. Myers and Build Now for a special housewarming party, hosted by Molly's on the Market. All guests who donate $10 or a gift of equal or greater value will enjoy complementary appetizers and will be entered into a raffle to win a $100 bar tab at Molly's on the Market, along with other prizes.

All donations will benefit The Build Now Furnishing Fund, for homeowners who have invested all their funds into their new house, and need a little extra help to make it feel like home.

In “Parallel,” JT Blatty demonstrates her passion for the prehistoric and photography as she explores the symmetry between the fossil and the human form. While searching for the commonalities between the ancient and the current, she brings the two worlds together in an unusual and provocative set of images, combining portions of the human figure juxtaposed with fossils she has collected over the years

St. Paul Lutheran Church invites the public to attend a “St. Paul in the Marigny Festival Weekend.” This year, St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, located at 2624 Burgundy Street in New Orleans, is observing its 170th anniversary serving the community.
On Saturday, September 4, 2010, there will be an outdoor/indoor gumbo fest from noon
to 6 PM. Gumbo and other refreshments will be for sale. At 7:00 PM, Capricious Productions will present an original 2 act comedy with music, “Out the Inn.” A diamond theft along with some snakes on the loose make for a wild weekend at a quiet inn where the guests include birdwatchers, a new age guru, a shady senator, and some sassy meter maids. On Sunday, September 5, the gumbo fest will be from noon to 3:00 PM. A matinee performance of “Out the Inn” will take place at 4:00.

In “Parallel,” JT Blatty demonstrates her passion for the prehistoric and photography as she explores the symmetry between the fossil and the human form. While searching for the commonalities between the ancient and the current, she brings the two worlds together in an unusual and provocative set of images, combining portions of the human figure juxtaposed with fossils she has collected over the years

On Saturday, September 4, 2010, there will be an outdoor/indoor gumbo fest from noon

On Saturday, September 4, 2010, there will be an outdoor/indoor gumbo fest from noon

St. Paul Lutheran Church invites the public to attend a “St. Paul in the Marigny Festival Weekend.” This year, St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, located at 2624 Burgundy Street in New Orleans, is observing its 170th anniversary serving the community.
On Saturday, September 4, 2010, there will be an outdoor/indoor gumbo fest from noon
to 6 PM. Gumbo and other refreshments will be for sale. At 7:00 PM, Capricious Productions will present an original 2 act comedy with music, “Out the Inn.” A diamond theft along with some snakes on the loose make for a wild weekend at a quiet inn where the guests include birdwatchers, a new age guru, a shady senator, and some sassy meter maids. On Sunday, September 5, the gumbo fest will be from noon to 3:00 PM. A matinee performance of “Out the Inn” will take place at 4:00.

The Literacy Alliance is sponsoring a holiday tour of Bed and Breakfast Houses along Esplanade Ridge. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds benefit adult and family literacy services in the Greater New Orleans area. Starting point is Ashton's Bed and Breakfast at 2023 Esplanade Avenue.

If you've always wanted to take a peek inside some of our incredible old homes or would like to find a great place for your next group of visitors to stay and play, "Beds to Read Inn" is a holiday tour of historic homes that also supports the great cause of literacy.

Grab of couple of your friends and spend the afternoon along Esplanade Ridge. You'll have fun, showcase some of our small businesses, and support literacy in our community: win win win!
