Audubon Zoo Continues a Beloved Mother's Day Tradition featuring "Soul
Queen of New Orleans" and Grammy winner Irma Thomas

Irma Sings, Moms Get Free Zoo Admission May 10, 2009

Grammy Award-winner Irma Thomas headlines a Mother?s Day full of
music, family, food and fun at Audubon Zoo, 6500 Magazine Street in
New Orleans.

And best of all, Moms of all ages get into the Zoo free of charge on
Mother?s Day, May 10, 2009.

?Free admission for all moms on Mother?s Day is an Audubon Zoo
tradition going back more than twenty years,? said Audubon Zoo
Managing Director Larry Rivarde. ?It?s a day full of warmth, as
hundreds of families bring Mom to the Zoo for a celebration of
togetherness.?

Visitors can purchase a special remembrance for Mom from one of a
dozen jewelry makers selling their creations on-site. Special treats
such as crawfish bread, Jamaican jerk chicken and shrimp remoulade
po-boys will be available for purchase so Mom doesn?t have to cook on
her special day.

Beginning at 12:30pm, the Sullivan Dabney Muzik Jass Band entertains
the crowd from the Capital One stage at the Zoo.

At 2:30pm, Irma Thomas takes the stage in an emotion-filled
performance, singing directly to the moms in the audience. Her concert
is filled with personal anecdotes, old favorites and hot new hits.

Contributing sponsors include Home Depot, WWL-TV Channel 4 and Cox
Communications.

Audubon Zoo is located at 6500 Magazine Street in New Orleans.
Admission to Audubon Zoo is $13 for adults, $8 for children ages 2-12
and $10 for seniors 65 years of age and over. Members are always
admitted to the Zoo free of charge. Guests can purchase tickets online
and walk right in, avoiding any lines at the front gate.
