THNOC to Begin Free Sunday Film Series to Celebrate Cajun Culture
Each Sunday in March to Feature a Louisiana Film WHO: The Historic New Orleans Collection WHAT: Cajuns on the Silver Screen - a five film series featuring Louisiana's Acadian heritage WHEN: Sundays in March at 2:00 p.m. March 1: Evangeline (1929), presented by exhibition curator Amanda McFillen March 8: Dirty Rice (1997), presented by filmmaker Pat Mire March 15: Schultze Gets the Blues (2003), presented by writer Ben Sandmel March 29: Louisiana Story (1948), presented by star J. C. Boudreaux WHERE: THNOC's Williams Research Center 410 Chartres Street, French Quarter HOW: Free and open to the public. Seating is limited. WHY: Each Sunday in March, The Collection will present and discuss a different film on Cajun culture. All films will be shown in the Boyd Cruise Room of the Williams Research Center, where the exhibition Evangeline: From Tragic Heroine to Cultural Icon is on display. The films, with the exception of Dirty Rice-PG-13, are rated PG and families are welcome. |
